Dales & Shires is a small and independently owned estate agency, which has been successfully selling properties for clients since 2009.
We are based in Harrogate, North Yorkshire and cover Yorkshire, Cumbria and surrounding areas. Our skilled staff have worked in the region’s diverse property markets for over 20 years.

Many estate agencies focus on maximising the number of properties on their books. However, we believe that this does not generally result in the best level of service for each individual client.
We provide a bespoke and very personal service. We actually limit the number of properties on our books to a level where we can maintain a superb level of service, and regular communication with each individual client. We usually handle a maximum of 15-20 properties at any one time.
As our client, you will always have one point of contact, who knows your property, situation and sale completely.

We are experienced in selling a wide range of urban, village and rural properties, covering all price brackets. We are particularly experienced in selling period properties and individual homes, including Grade II listed buildings, barn conversions, equestrian property, farmhouses, cottages and land.

From our Harrogate base in the heart of Yorkshire, we are ideally placed to deal with properties throughout the North of England.
We cover Yorkshire, Cumbria and surrounding counties, including The Yorkshire Dales, North York Moors, The Lake District, East Coast, Yorkshire Wolds and Teesdale. We also regularly sell further afield across the UK, especially for repeat clients and word of mouth recommendations from previous clients.
Our superb knowledge of the local and regional property markets, and our wide geographical area coverage means that we can often put your property in front of more potential buyers, particularly those who may be looking for a particular type of property or lifestyle across a larger search area.

Presentation and communication are key when it comes to selling properties.
All of our properties benefit from attractive wide-angle photography, clear floorplans and well written sales details. We communicate your property’s key selling points, helping to attract the best potential buyers for each property. Quality marketing and maximum exposure combine to generate the highest level of serious interest and viewings, which in turn maximises your chance of receiving the best offers.
Wherever it is of benefit, we can also provide aerial/drone photography, plot maps and satellite imagery. Again, this is included as standard, to ensure that we do as much as possible to sell your home successfully, and for the most favourable price.
No Hidden Catches:
Our proposition is simple – we charge a reasonable and competitive sales fee, and we only get paid when we have completed a successful sale.
Unlike many agents, we do not charge extra for photography, there are no hidden/small print catches and there are no charges if you change your mind and withdraw from the market.
We also don’t tie clients into long contract periods – we simply have a standard rolling notice period from the very start. We find that clients appreciate this simplicity and transparency, and we rely on providing a great service and delivering results to keep our clients happy.

Where we Advertise:
We strive to place each property in front of as many suitable buyers as possible. As you would expect, we advertise on the main national property portals. This is where almost all prospective purchasers carry out their initial property searches. We advertise on Rightmove, the UK’s leading property website, as well as on Zoopla and PrimeLocation.
We also have attractive and distinctive ‘for sale’ boards, well designed brochures and an active mailing list of buyers. We often have our properties featured in local and regional publications, and we proactively send property details to other home movers in the area.
The way that buyers search for and find properties has shifted dramatically in recent years. Gone are the days of trawling the local high street agents and waiting for the weekly property paper to be printed. Most property searches start online now, and more information is readily available (floorplans, mapping, sold price data etc.).
